OVERVIEW

This journey through Thailand begins in the historical city of Ayutthaya, where explore the stunning Bang Pa-In Palace, ancient temples, and the lively Ayothaya Floating Market. The tour continues to Nakhon Ratchasima, showcasing the impressive Khmer temples at Pimai and the local pottery village. As the adventure unfolds, travelers head to Sukhothai to marvel at UNESCO-listed ruins, followed by visits to the ancient sites of Sri Satchanalai.

The trip then takes them to Chiang Saen, situated by the Mekong River, where they enjoy breathtaking views and a boat ride to the Golden Triangle. Immersion in local hill tribe cultures enhances the experience, as does the stunning scenery at Doi Mae Salong. The journey progresses to Chiang Mai, known for its vibrant handicraft villages, orchid farms, and sacred temples.

Day 1 : Bangkok – Ayutthaya (- / L / -)

We head to the ancient capital of the Kingdom of Siam, Ayutthaya. We start our exploration into the area’s rich history at Bang Pa-In, the summer palace of King Rama V that blends a variety of architectural styles and is nestled in a sprawling park surrounded by waterways. The palace was first used by the royal court as a summer retreat in the 17th century. It was destroyed with the fall of Ayutthaya and later restored by King Rama IV in the mid-19th century.

After lunch, we visit Wat Ratchaburana and Chao Sam Phraya Museum. In 1957, a large number of Buddha images and gold artefacts were looted from the temple’s crypt. The thieves were caught and a few treasures recovered, which are housed in the museum (closed Monday, Tuesday and public holidays, when a visit to the Thai Boat Museum will replace this attraction). We visit Ayothaya Floating Market and enjoy snacks sold at stalls that line the canal before check-in at the hotel.

After enjoying lunch at a local restaurant, we drive to Pimai to visit a museum and a magnificent collection of Khmer temples, dubbed the Angkor Wat of Thailand.
