Explore Sigiriya rock fortress :
Sigiriya Rock Fortress which is a UNESCO World Heritage site. Sigiriya Rock Fortress was built by King Kashyapa in the 5th century. Today you can witness the ruins of his castle on top of Sigiriya Rock, Swimming pools, ponds and gardens dotted with many ponds. This is an architectural marvel and one of the most photographed monuments.

Visit Polonnaruwa, a UNESCO world heritage site :
Polonnaruwa, was the second capital of Sri Lanka after the destruction of Anuradhapura in 993. It comprises, besides the Brahmanic monuments built by the Cholas, the monumental ruins of the fabulous garden city created by great King Parakramabahu I in the 12th century. The glory of the bygone era can be found in the archaeological treasures that still give a good idea of how the city looked in its glory days. You'll find the archaeological park a delight to explore, with hundreds of ancient structures tombs and temples, statues and stupas. The most important places to see in Polonnaruwa are Royal Palace, Audience Hall, Swimming Pool, Sacred Quadrangle, Shiva Temple, Pabalu Vehera, Rankot Vihara, Kiri Vihara Dageba, Lankatilaka Buddha statue and Gal Vihara Buddha Statutes.
Special notes - The best time for this is either in the early hours of the day (7 AM to 10 AM) or late afternoon (3.30 PM to 5.30 PM) to avoid harsh sun rays. The site is open from 7 AM to 5.30 PM. A Hat, sun protection lotion, and a pair of sunglasses will always come in handy. Modest clothing covering up to knee length is required as this is a temple site.

Visit and explore three Royal Mansions (Now commercial establishments), St. Paul's Church, Sri Muthumariamman Temple, Meera Maccam Mosque, Kandy Lake, Kandy View Point and British Garrison Cemetery followed by a visit to Kandy's Temple of Tooth Relic where Lord Buddha's Tooth Relic now resides.
