Cycle to Sigiriya and explore the Rock Fortress :
We approach the Heritage site from the back, for example, through the forest reserve and the villages lying in the shadow of the rock, rather than through the tourist centre. We will park our cycles by the Western Entrance and explore the gardens and climb the Rock. From the summit, we can trace with delight the route we cycled! One could interact with the friendly villagers you may meet when cycling, observe the village vendors who go from door to door, enjoy the scenery around the Sigiriya Rock, lakes, and village homes, and see the farmers and their working paddy fields, some ruined historical sites, temples and also birds.
We return by circling the rock so that you have cycled all the way around the mighty fortress. Special note - Ideal for families and individuals with good fitness. The minimum age requirement is 7 years and above. This is 10 to 12 kms of cycling on flat dirt roads and can take approximately 2 hours depending on how much time you spend sightseeing. The best start time is 7 AM, so you can reach the Sigiriya Rock Fortress by 9 AM, on time before the harsh sun rays.
We suggest that you start climbing the rock fortress by 9AM and this can take about 2 to 3 hours of ascending and descending. In total, it is about 5 to 6 hours of activity which requires some physical strength. We provide you with water, bottled drinks and cookies when cycling and are guided by a local villager (His fee is included). The entrance fee for Sigiriya Rock Fortress is included in this activity. Please refer to the "Includes and Excludes" section of this itinerary to see whether a site guide for Sigiriya Rock Fortress is included or not.

Day trekking in Knuckles Mountain Range :
Take park in one of the most breathtaking hiking trips in Sri Lanka, The Knuckles mountains of Kandy. You will be picked up from Kandy and transferred to the trail starting point which is approximately a 1 hour drive. During the trail you will be trekking through tea plantation, pine forest, a typical kandyan village and rice fields. This is a circular trek which is approximately abut 18 kms. Village culture and bird watching are some of the highlights of this trip.
You will be transferred to Kandy by 6 pm.

Kitulgala Rain Forest Walk :
Cross the Keleni River in an open catamaran-type traditional wooden boat with no sail and walk in to the deep routes of the Rain Forest of Kitulgala Forest Reserve.The well experienced boatmen will take across the 60 meter wide riverand you will feel how the people negotiated the river in times where there were nobridges. You will see the shawls of fish and the river bed, as the visibility through theclear waters of the river is very good.Experience various fauna and flora of the Rain forest of Kitulgala Forest Reserve and see beautiful sceneries of waterfalls and streams hidden inside the forest. Have cool dip in a scenic flowing water stream during your Rain Forest Trekk in the Jungle of Kitulgala.
Canyoning followed by a white water rafting at Kitulgala :
Experience White Water Rafting in the picturesque Kelani River, covering 5 major rapids and 4 minor rapids. Sunrise hike to Adam's Peak :
Centuries old pilgrimage ritual practiced to date from full moon day of December to full moon day of May, every year as the Buddhists hike to worship Lord Buddha's footsteps, as they believe it. During this period from children, young and old Buddhist followers hike to Adam's Peak summit. Usually they start the hike in mid night to witness the glorious sunrise from the summit and descend to foot hills. During this period there is no shortage in worshipers, makeshift stalls which sells food, toys and all sorts of goods for the pilgrims. The hike consists of nearly 5000 steps but the cultural experience, glorious sunrise and magnificent views from the summit is worth the effort. During the off season from mid-May to mid-December there will be rains and there will be no pilgrims but the foreign travelers used to hike. During this time it is advisable to hike during the day time as there will be no lights along the path.

This train ride from Hatton to Ella is an unforgettable experience. Right from the moment you step onto the charming platform, at a station which wouldn't have looked out of place on the set of the Railway Children, to the moment you arrive at the picturesque mountain town of Ella. This is one trip that is as much about the journey as the destination.

Through the Misty Mountains Trekking from Haputale to Ohiya - Pekoe Trail Stage 12 :
Embarking on The Pekoe Trail Stage 12 from Haputale to Udaweriya, our journey begins with a visit to the historic Adisham Bungalow. Once the country house of Sir Thomas Lester Villiers, it now houses the Adisham Monastery of St. Benedict, exuding picturesque charm with its Tudor-style architecture. The library, filled with dusty volumes, and the living room are accessible to visitors, offering a glimpse into the past. Continuing our trek, we explore the Thangamale bird sanctuary, a haven for bird enthusiasts amid stunning landscapes.
The trek provides panoramic views of the Uva basin and Thangamale Mountain. The sanctuary is home to various bird species and wildlife, creating a serene environment. Traversing through the scenic train tracks, we pass through a tunnel and reach Idalgashinna Railway Station. Climbing from the lodge to the highest point at 1948 meters, we witness breathtaking views of the south of Sri Lanka. The trail leads through high-elevation tropical and pine forests, revealing the British-built tea trail and captivating contrasts in the landscape. The journey concludes with a gradual descent to a remote village where our lodge awaits, providing a unique and unforgettable overnight stay.

Through the misty mountain (Pekoe Trail Stage - 11) :
The Pekoe Trail begins at the Farr Inn, an old hunting lodge for British colonial officials. The highest point of the trail is at 2170 meters, with varying weather conditions. The Devil's Staircase, named after Scottish planters, is a track that covers the top section of the mountain. The trail leads to a small village and the Udaweriya Valley, offering breathtaking views of Udawalawe National Park and the coastline. The lowest point is the 'hidden valley' at 1618 meters, a south-facing tea-growing valley with dramatic topography. As the trail ascends, visitors can admire the old Udaweriya Tea Factory and the valley's terraces of vegetables. Small local homes are scattered around the valley.

Through the misty mountains trekking trip to Ohiya and Bambarakanda Waterfall :
You will be passing through an area called "Devil's staircase" a very narrow with three hair pin bends and at the end of this the tea estate the scenery come more fascinating. At this point we will descend to a waterfall called "Lanka Falls"where you would be able to swim and have a cold bath in the natural pool at the base of the waterfall. You will be served a picnic meal at this place. Then we continue or journey further down where you will come to see Sri Lanka's highest waterfall "Bambarakanda". If you wish we can take you to the starting point of the waterfall too. Then you will be descending further with the view of Bambarakanda waterfall view intact. Here too if you wish you can have a swim at the base of the waterfall. Finally, we are at the end of our trekking trip of Sri Lanka's central highlands where you will be met with your driver to continue your trip in Sri Lanka in the rest of the parts.
