OVERVIEW

Get a glimpse into the authentic Indonesian island life while soaking up the incredible natural beauty of a smattering of idyllic islands on this five-day Wae Rebo village and Komodo explorer discovery. We start our adventure at the traditional village of Wae Rebo before visiting a collection of other quaint communities to see the customs and culture of locals and to enhance this experience we spend the night in a local family’s home.

This trip also includes a cruise to paradise islands to trek; swimming and snorkelling in clear turquoise waters and exploring an incredible array of natural phenomenon that dot this area, including the stunning Pink Sand Beach. During our intrepid journey, we will spot a wealth of wildlife, including the famed Komodo dragon.

Day 1 : Labuan Bajo – Wae Rebo (- / L / D)

Get stuck straight into local life as we spend our first day visiting rural villages. Upon arrival at Labuan Bajo Airport, we will be met by our local guide and driven straight to the traditional village of Wae Rebo, an isolated community surrounded by simply stunning scenery.

A well-deserved lunch will be enjoyed at a local restaurant in Ruteng before we drive to Denge, the closest village accessible to Wae Rebo. From here, we set off on a scenic three-hour trek through sprawling farmland and rolling hills. We will be accompanied by a local porter who will help carry our belongings.

Upon arrival at Wae Rebo by foot, we will be greeted by villagers and treated to their warm hospitality with an overnight stay in a local family’s home. Please note: Each porter carries a maximum weight of 20 kg. Extra luggage can be stored in the car with the driver or carried at an additional cost.

Overnight in Waerebo

Day 2 : Wae Rebo – Dintor – Labuan Bajo (B / L / -)

Rise early and enjoy watching the sun peek from the horizon before tucking into breakfast at the village. We will then have some free time to meet more of Wae Rebo’s friendly residents as we take a stroll through the village to get an insight into their daily life in this remote part of the island.

We then set off on a trek to the quaint village of Denge, passing through some stunning landscapes. Upon arrival in Denge, we enjoy a local lunch before driving on to Labuan Bajo. Along the way, we will make some stops to enjoy the panoramic views and immerse ourselves further into the local life.

Upon arrival in Labuan Bajo, we head to our overnight accommodation for check-in, with the rest of the day at leisure to explore our new surroundings.

Overnight in Labuan Bajo

Day 3 : Labuan Bajo – Sebayur – Manta Point – Padar Island (B / L / D)

Set off an island-hopping adventure and discover the tropical island paradises that dot this stretch of sea and the wealth of marine life that call the inviting waters home. Upon arrival at Komodo Airport in Labuan Bajo on Western Flores, we meet with our guide and drive to the pier to board our boat.

We then cruise to Sebayur Island, a stunning spot that is famed for its snorkelling and dive sites. After exploring the colourful underwater world, we cruise to Manta Point, while tucking into a tasty lunch on board.

We dive into the waters once again to spot the manta rays, before continuing to Siaba Island, another pristine dive spot nestled in the north of the Komodo National Park.

We dock at the island for dinner and a relaxing overnight stay on board.

Day 4 : Padar Island – Pengah Island – Rinca Island – Kalong Island (B / L / D)

Today serves up more sumptuous tropical islands, underwater snorkelling adventures and viewing the mighty Komodo dragon. After breakfast, we cruise from Padar to Pengah Island where we enjoy snorkelling, or swimming.

Lunch will be provided on the boat as we cruise to Rinca Island to embark on the day’s highlight to view the Komodo dragon. Here, we will trek to Wae Waso through dry forest to spot the dragons in their natural habitat, as well as other wildlife, such as deer, wild buffalo, long-tailed macaque and wild boar.

Keep your eyes peeled as sometimes it is possible to spot young Komodo dragons in the trees. In the late afternoon, we head to Kalong Island in time to see thousands of bats flying from their nests on a feeding frenzy.
Dinner is on board the boat.

Remarks: Trekking in Rinca is sofar not open, clients only visit and pass the bridge till ranger station to see the dragons

Day 5 : Kalong – Menjerite – Kelor – Labuan Bajo – Departure (B / L / -)

After a leisurely breakfast on the boat, we set off on today’s cruise to Menjerite, or Kelor islands to delve into the rich sea life during a snorkelling session.

If time permits, we will then head out on a gentle 30-minute trek through the island’s interior to marvel at the breath-taking views. We then re-board the boat and enjoy a delicious lunch as we make our way back to Labuan Bajo.

We will be met at the pier and driven directly to the airport for our onward flight. This brings to an end our exciting three-day adventure cruising around the smattering of idyllic tropical islands in the Komodo Archipelago.
