OVERVIEW

This journey begins in the vibrant city of Delhi, blending modernity with ancient history. After arriving in the capital, you will travel to Nagpur and explore Pench National Park, known for its tiger reserve and rich wildlife. From there, you continue to Kanha National Park, the inspiration behind Kipling's "Jungle Book," offering expansive landscapes and diverse fauna. The adventure continues in Bandhavgarh National Park, famous for its high tiger density, followed by a visit to the tranquil village of Khajuraho, renowned for its intricately carved temples. The trip then leads to Orchha, a serene town filled with temples and palaces. After a train journey back to Delhi, you'll explore the city's historic and cultural landmarks, including Old Delhi's vibrant streets, Jama Masjid, Qutub Minar, and Humayun’s Tomb, before concluding the trip.

DAY 01 : ARRIVE DELHI

You will arrive at New Delhi’s International Airport. Following customs, immigration formalities and baggage collection, SITA representative will meet you as you EXIT the ARRIVALS TERMINAL building after which you would be transferred to your hotel.   

(Standard check-in time at hotel is 1400 hrs).

A city of great character, of contrasts and convolutions - this is Delhi, the capital city of India. A city with antiquity dating back over 2,000 years, it is also a modern metropolis with fast cars and neon lit shopping malls. So varied are the shades of Delhi's different faces, it is difficult to grasp it in a short span of time.

DAY 02 : DELHI / NAGPUR (BY DOMESTIC FLIGHT)

Breakfast at hotel.

Followed by in time transfer to the airport to take the flight for Nagpur.

Upon arrival, departure by road to Pench National Park :

Pench National Park located on the southern edge of Madhya Pradesh is nestled in the lower southern reaches of the Satpura Hills and is named by the name of the Pench River which flows north to south through this national park. Pench was included in the "Project Tiger" reserves in 1992, as the 19th tiger reserve.

A total of 758 square kms of this South Indian tropical rainforest stretches mingling with tropical teak sc. The area is full of several streams and 'nallahs' most of which are seasonal. Although the Pench River dries up in late April, a number of pools of water called "dohs" are found, which serve as watering holes for wildlife.

DAY 03 : PENCH

DAY 04 : PENCH / KANHA 187 km / 04 ½ hrs

Followed by drive to Kanha National Park :

Kanha National Park, 160 km south of Jabalpur, is one of India's largest parks. Its landscapes varying from forests of sals (large trees in India providing precious wood), to wooded pastures crossed by streams full of fish, inspired Kipling who set the scene for his "Jungle Book" there. Like the parks of Sariska and Ranthambore, it is part of the "Tiger project".

A rigorous policy for the protection of fauna for the past forty years has allowed a steady increase in mammals.

DAY 05 : KANHA

DAY 06 : KANHA / BANDHAVGARH 215 km / 05 hrs

Followed by drive to Bandhavgarh :

Bandhavgarh National Park, a little off the tourist trail, is 197 km northeast of Jabalpur, in the state of Madhya Pradesh. Of modest size, it can boast of having the highest density of tigers and leopards. Its ecosystem is fragile and harbors a large number of mammals and birds. The ramparts of the fort of Bandhavgarh offer an ideal shelter to the vultures.

DAY 07 : BANDHAVGARH

DAY 08 : BANDHAVGARH / KHAJURAHO 226 km / 06 hrs

The peaceful village of Khajuraho is renowned for its sandstone Hindu temples, built under the Chandela dynasty and mostly dating from the 10th and 11th centuries. The period which extends from 950 to 1050, was marked by a current of artistic genius. These temples are considered one of the jewels of Indo-Aryan art thanks to their superbly crafted sculptures. DAY 09 : KHAJURAHO / ORCHHA 173 km / 04 hrs        

•    Visit to the Chandela Temple Complex

Visit the Chandela temple complex :

The visit to Khajuraho this morning focuses on the famous erotic temples, which represent some of the finest examples of this type of architecture in North India.
These temples were not destroyed by the Muslim invaders and therefore the fine carvings are in very good condition. (approximately 3 hour visit)

Followed by drive to Orchha. Orchha is a relaxing and magical place. The remains of countless temples loom on the horizon, witnesses of a prestigious past. A powerful Rajput capital built in 1531, it became under the Bundela dynasty (16th and 17th centuries) the most important city in the region. Nowadays, the small village of Orchha, bathed by the Betwa, is part of a set of well-preserved temples and palaces. You will succumb to its peaceful and old-fashioned charm.

DAY 10 : ORCHHA / JHANSI 17 km/30 min

JHANSI / DELHI BY TRAIN : GATIMAAN EXP @ 15h05/19h30

•    Visit the city: Jehangir Mahal, museum, the Raj Mahal, the Rav Praveen Mahal
•    Temples of Orchha: Ram Raja temple, Chaturbhuj temple and Lakshmi Narayan temple

Followed by city visits :

Crossing a bridge that spans the Betwa, you will arrive on an island that houses three palaces: the Jehangir Mahal and its archaeological museum, the Raj Mahal with its magnificent frescoes and the Rav Praven Mahal with its hammam and its camel stables.

The many temples of Orchha date from the 16th century, the main ones being the temple of Ram Raja, the temple of Chaturbhuj and that of Lakshmi Narayan.

Depart by road to Jhansi.

On arrival, transfer to the railway station to catch the train to Delhi.

DAY 11 : DELHI

•    Visit to Old Delhi (Raj Ghat, Jama Masjid, drive past visit to Red Fort)
•    Rickshaw Ride
•    Visit to Qutub Minar
•    Visit to Humayun’s Tomb
•    Drive past visit to India Gate, the Parliament building and the Rashtrapati Bhawan

Breakfast at hotel.

The tour will begin with a visit to Raj Ghat, a simple memorial to Mahatma Gandhi; drive past to Red Fort (Remain closed on Monday) continuing to the Jama Masjid, one of Asia’s largest mosques. It was the last architectural extravaganza of the Mughal Emperor, Shahjahan built in the year 1656 AD with the help of 5,000 craftsmen. It was made across the road from the Red Fort. The mosque is also known as Masjid-I-Jahanuma, which means 'mosque commanding view of the world'. 

During the Old Delhi visit enjoy “Rickshaw Ride” through the narrow lane of the bustling market.

The tour of New Delhi will include a visit to the Qutub Minar, which is the tallest stone tower in India.  The Qutub Minar was started in 1199 AD by Qutub-ud-Din Aibak and completed by the sultan's successor and son-in-law, Iltutmish. The Qutub Minar is still the highest stone tower. Then visit Humayun’s tomb, built by the widow of the second Mughal Emperor, Humayun, it is an outstanding monument in the Indo-Persian style, a precursor of the Taj Mahal. The tour also includes a drive past the imposing India Gate, the Parliament building and the Rashtrapati Bhawan (the President’s residence).

After the visits, return to the hotel. (The room remains at your disposal until departure)

Late in the evening in time transfer to the international airport to board the flight for onwards destination.
