Nubra travel Guide

Nubra Valley is located in the northern part of the Ladakh region in India’s Jammu and Kashmir union territory. It's about 150 kilometers north of Leh, the capital of Ladakh, and lies at an average altitude of 3,048 meters (10,000 feet) above sea level.

How to Reach Nubra Valley

  1. By Air:
    • The nearest airport is Kushok Bakula Rimpochee Airport in Leh. From Leh, you can hire a taxi or take a local bus to Nubra Valley.
  2. By Road:
    • Leh to Nubra Valley: The most popular route is through Khardung La Pass, one of the highest motorable roads in the world at 5,359 meters (17,582 feet). The journey takes about 4-6 hours depending on weather conditions.
    • Public Transport: Shared taxis and buses are available from Leh to Nubra. However, the bus service is not very frequent, so hiring a taxi is often more convenient.

  • Summer (May to September): This is the best time to visit as the weather is pleasant, with daytime temperatures ranging from 15°C to 30°C.
