OVERVIEW
This excellent excursion provides a perfect combination of Bali’s cultural and natural highlights, with Lombok’s laid-back beach resorts. This eight-day tour takes us around the two idyllic islands to soak up historic traditions, such as a barong and kris dance show; local craftsmanship; and natural highs on a white-water rafting experience. We explore inner Bali, away from its renowned surfing beaches to admire sublime scenery, ancient architecture and Balinese traditions that are threaded through everyday life. After spending time unwinding on Gili Trawangan, we admire the beauty of Bali’s sleepier neighbouring island of Lombok.
Day 1 : Sanur – Ubud (- / - / -)
First we transfer to Batubulan village which is famous for stone carving. Here we watch the barong and kris dance show, which relates the eternal struggle between two mythical creatures, barong (good) and Rangda (evil).
Next we proceed to Celuk, a village famed for the skill of its silversmiths. We then visit a traditional Balinese home in Batuan and stop in Mas which is renowned for its woodcarvings. Our tour concludes at Ubud, the cultural heart of Bali with its many art galleries showcasing art from local and overseas’ talent.
We visit Puri Saren Agung, a palace that was home to the royal family who ruled Ubud from the late 1800s until 1917. The tour duration is seven to eight hours.

Overnight in Ubud
Day 2 : Ubud Rafting (B / L / -)
Travel by raft to enjoy the thrills of the rapids, spectacular scenery and observe rural Balinese people in their day-to-day life along the riverbanks. These waterway adventure travels down the Ayung River and take us through Bali’s jungle as we spot flora and fauna on the way.
A lunch buffet is included at a local restaurant at the end of the trip, before we transfer back to the hotel. The tour duration is six to seven hours in total.
Dinner is to your own account. This rafting experience is suitable for all ages.
Overnight in Ubud
Day 3 : Ubud – Candidasa (B / - / -)
Get total immersion into Balinese culture on this inspirational journey from Ubud to Candidasa. We will admire ancient architecture, age-old traditions and imposing landmarks. First, we head to Kerta Gosa, otherwise known as the Hall of Justice, this is surrounded by a moat and it is a prime example of the Klungkung style of architecture and paintings, as illustrated by the murals that line its ceiling.
Next, we transfer to Kusamba, a fishing and salt production village, which is home to colourful outrigger boats on the black sandy shoreline. We continue with a scenic drive along the coastal road to Goa Lawah (bat cave) which has sublime views over the sea to Nusa Penida and we explore this holy cave which is filled with thousands of bats.
We conclude our tour at Tenganan, a Balinese village that retains ancient traditions such as handicrafts, especially the weaving of kamben geringsing, a ceremonial cloth that is thought to immunise the wearer against evil. The tour duration is eight to nine hours.

Overnight in Candidasa
Day 4 : Candidasa – Gili Trawangan (B / - / -)
Today you depart from Bali for Gili Trawangan. You are collected from the hotel to transfer to Padang Bai Harbour to join the speedboat and upon arrival at Gili Trawangan, you are met by the representative to transfer to the hotel.

Day 5 : Gili Trawangan (B / - / -)
The day is free to spend at leisure to enjoy Gili Trawangan – whether that is kicking back on the beach, or refreshing with a swim. An optional evening tour of the island is highly recommended (surcharge applies).

Overnight in Gili Trawangan
Day 6 : Gili Trawangan – Lombok (B / - / -)
Today you depart from Gili Trawangan for Lombok and travel by speedboat which takes around 10 minutes. You will make your way to the jetty to join the speedboat.
Upon your arrival in Lombok, you are met by our driver and guide and transferred to the hotel.

Overnight in Lombok
Day 7 : Lombok (B / L / -)
Explore north Lombok’s natural beauty, visit local villages and take in the stunning scenery of this island paradise. First, we visit Pusuk Pass to enjoy panoramic views over the Gili Islands, before driving along Lombok's northern coastline to the cascading Sendang Gile Waterfall which is set among tranquil surroundings, where we enjoy lunch.
Afterwards, we continue to Sembalun Lawang and Bumbung villages in the Sembalun Valley, on the eastern slope of Mount Rinjani, Indonesia's second largest volcano. Here we observe one of the Sasak ethnic minorities and learn more about their unique traditions. The tour concludes at the Kingly Garden of Narmada, whose spring water is believed to grant eternal youth. The tour duration is seven to eight hours.

Overnight in Lombok
Day 8 : Lombok – Bali (B / - / -)
In the morning you depart from Lombok and transfer by boat to Bali.
Upon arrival at Padang Bai Harbour, you transfer to the aeroport.
