OVERVIEW

This journey through Jordan offers a blend of history, culture, and natural wonders. It begins with a warm welcome in Amman, followed by explorations of the city's ancient and modern attractions. The tour includes a visit to the Roman ruins of Jerash and an overnight stay in Ajloun’s rustic lodge. Experience a hike along the Rasoun Trail and float in the Dead Sea. Adventure continues in Wadi Mujib’s canyons before reaching the picturesque Dana Reserve. Explore Petra, with a hike to the Monastery El Deir, before venturing into the deserts of Wadi Rum for camel rides, jeep tours, and Bedouin hospitality. The journey concludes with a visit to Mt. Nebo, Madaba’s mosaics.

Day 2 : Amman City Tour - Jerash – Ajloun Lodge

Today explore Amman, the bustling capital of Jordan. Though already mentioned in the Bible as Rabbat Ammon, the city is modern with only a few ancient attractions we visit today. Head downtown to explore the Citadel hill with remains from the Roman to the early Islamic period and a small Archaeological Museum. Onto the opposite Roman Theatre from the 2nd century with 6,000 seats. Stroll along the vibrant Souq and Rainbow Street with its charm of early 20th century houses.

Your driver takes you for an hour to the Roman ruins of Jerash. See the Hippodrome, the Colonnaded Street, the Nymphaeum, the Temple of Artemis and the North Theatre. Drive to the Ajloun Forest Reserve and check into the rustic lodge.

Meals: Breakfast, Dinner

Day 3 : Ajloun Lodge - Rasoun Trail 2-3 Hours - Dead Sea Hotel

Start the day with a hike along the Rasoun Trail, which is about 6 to 7 km long. Your local guide will give you an insight of the woodland area. Short ride to the Islamic castle of Ajloun, in Arabic called Qal’at Ar Rabad. Its purpose was to watch over the routes to the Jordan Valley and the commercial routes to Syria, as well as to protect the iron mines nearby. Then, drive around 2 hours to the lowest point on earth, the Dead Sea.

Check into your hotel. Free time for leisure at the beach, chance to float on salty waters or cover your body with the popular Dead Sea mud.

Meals: Breakfast

Day 4 : Dead Sea Hotel - Wadi Al Mujib 2 Hours Siq Trail - Dana Hotel

Check out of the hotel and drive along the Dead Sea coast to Wadi Mujib, one of the nature reserves in Jordan and part of the huge Wadi Mujib canyon. Descend into the canyon and follow the water stream of the river between towering sandstone cliffs to a waterfall. Depending on the water level, there might be pools for a swim. To do the trail, you need to be at least 18 years old and able to swim.

Afterwards, drive 2 hours to the tiny village of Dana where you’ll spend the night.

Meals: Breakfast, Dinner

Day 5 : Dana Reserve 3 Hours Hike - Shobak Castle - Petra Hotel

Get to know your local guide and set off from Dana Village to see more of the second largest nature reserve in Jordan. Dana spans across 320 square kilometers, extends from the top of the Rift Valley down to the Wadi Araba and encompasses four different bio-geographical zones. Pass by terraced gardens, walk along dramatic mountains and valleys with changing colours and always great views of Wadi Dana.

Back in the village we make our way to the ruins of Shobak Castle built in 1115.

Day 6 : Back Route Monastery El Deir Petra - Petra Hotel

Today we take the back route from Little Petra to the Monastery El Deir in Petra. We pass by the remains of the Neolithic village Beidah, walk across open farmland before we enter mountainous area. The path opens up to see the impressive façade of the Monastery El Deir, 45 meters high, cut in the sandstone rock. Explore the monument and its surrounding areas with great panoramic views. Climb around 800 stairs down to the lower parts of Petra. Here you follow the main trail along famous landmarks like Qasr Al Bint, the Royal Tombs, the Treasury, through the Siq to the main gate.

Day 7 : Petra Hotel - Wadi Rum Camel Ride, Jeep Tour - Wadi Rum Camp

Just a one and a half hours drive from Petra lies Wadi Rum, one of Jordan’s great landscapes. Meet your Bedouin guide and start with camel riding, the traditional way to explore the desert. See along the way rock inscriptions and stop at Lawrence’s Spring, named after Lawrence of Arabia. Lunch break with a sweet Bedouin tea in the shade of a mountain. Embark a 4x4, sit in the open back, to cover more ground. Ride through the desert, passing by enormous cliffs, rock and sand formations with the different colours of nature. See the 80 meters high Burdah rock bridge and the smaller Um Frouth, both naturally evolved through wind and erosion over centuries.

You have the opportunity to climb Um Frouth, which takes about 15 minutes, and enjoy great views over the surroundings. Your jeep driver meets you at the end of the canyon, to take you to your campsite. Here a dinner and the desert night with a hopefully starry sky awaits you.
