OVERVIEW
Today’s exploration reveals a hidden side of Bali as we head to traditional handicraft villages, rarely visited beaches and cultural hotspots. We set-off on the road to Ubud and view the famed handicraft villages of Tohpati, Celuk and Mas. To the East of the island, we uncover the area’s rich history and culture. Pemuteran is a hidden jewel in Bali and offers some of the nicest beaches and crystal-clear waters which are perfect for snorkelling and diving, especially around the island of Menjangan where whale sharks can sometimes be spotted.
Day 1 : Arrival Bali – Sanur (- / - / -)
Upon arrival at Ngurah Rai International Airport, you will be met by your driver and guide and transferred to your hotel in Sanur (journey time 30-45 minutes).
Lunch and dinner are to your own arrangement.
Overnight in Sanur
Day 2 : Sanur – Ubud (B / - / -)
Today’s sightseeing transfer between Sanur and Ubud will take approximately nine hours and includes many cultural stops. Start your day with a visit to Tohpati, which is known for its batik. Continue to Celuk, the centre of exquisite silver works and finally, Mas, famous for its fine woodcarvings.
We then arrive in Ubud, the cultural beating heart of Bali which is home to many galleries. We visit the Agung Rai Museum of Art which houses a collection of paintings by Balinese, Indonesian and foreign artists in classic Balinese and contemporary styles.
Afterwards, you can test your bargaining skills at Ubud Art Market, prior to visiting Ubud Palace, which is also known as Puri Saren Palace. This was built during the lordship of the late Ida Tjokorda Putu Kandel (1800-1823) and it has been well-kept by successive heirs. Watch an optional traditional dance here (surcharge applies). We then check-in to the hotel and the rest of the day is at leisure.

Overnight in Ubud
Day 3 : Ubud – Candidasa (B / - / -)
See the key sights of Ubud today. We start with a visit to Goa Gajah, the Elephant Cave, with a history that dates back to the 11th century. The origins of the cave are uncertain but one myth states it was created from a fingernail of the legendary giant Kebo Iwa.
We then continue east to Kertha Gosa, the ‘Hall of Justice’ which was effectively the supreme court of the Klungkung Kingdom. Here you can see examples of the Klungkung style of painting and architecture on some impressive ceiling murals. Next, we stop by Kusamba, a fishing village that also engages in the salt making process. This is also home to colourful outriggers lined up along the black sandy shoreline.
We drive along the coastal road to Goa Lawah, a holy cavern that is home to thousands of bats. Finally, we explore Tenganan, a Balinese village which is a bastion of local traditions. We overnight in Candidasa.

Overnight in Candidasa
Day 4 : Candidasa – Pemuteran (B / - / -)
Today we go on a sightseeing tour from Candidasa to Pemuteran and take in all the key sites. After breakfast, we visit the Taman Tirta Gangga ‘Water Palace’ which has pools and ornamental ponds that serve as a fascinating reminder of the Balinese Rajah’s golden days.
We then travel north-west and stop in Putung to admire the panoramic views over the eastern bay. We continue driving along country roads, lined with verdant terraced rice fields, to Besakih Temple. Located on the slope of Mount Agung, this is the most sacred Balinese temple and it is known as the ‘mother temple of Bali.’
Our final stop is Kintamani, which has breath-taking views over the caldera lake Danau Batur. We then descend towards the north coast where we travel to Pemuteran for a two-night stay.

Overnight in Pemuteran
Day 5 : Pemuteran (B / - / -)
Spend the day at leisure, or go on a snorkelling or diving tour off Menjangan Island (surcharge applies) which is also known as Deer Island. This off-shore area features seven world-class dive sites and it is only a short boat ride from the main island.
It is home to one of the most spectacular coral reefs in Bali and you will see a wide diversity of colourful tropical fish. You can dive to 150 metres to explore the magnificent coral gardens and dramatic reef walls which are home to a vast range of marine life, ranging from sea fans, pygmy seahorses and vivid gorgonians, to schools of snapper and reef sharks.
Visibility is normally excellent, ranging from between 15 to 50 metres. The Menjangan’s water sports base also offers a comprehensive selection of wetsuits, masks, diving equipment and other gear necessary to explore life beneath the waves.
Overnight in Pemuteran
Day 6 : Pemuteran – South Bali (B / - / -)
The transfer back to the South of Bali takes us alongside the stunning rice fields of Pupuan to your hotel, or we travel to the airport to catch your onward flight.

- Any domestic / international airline tickets, airport taxes.
- Visa fees, specific camera / video fees.
- Additional transportation cost from and to the general pick-up / drop-off regions (such as airports, out-of-town resorts, ports, harbours and accommodation in surrounding towns).
- Any accommodation expenses of a personal nature. This includes (compulsory festive) meals and drinks, mini-bar consumption, laundry, room service, any telephone or other communication cost not mentioned in the program.
- International travel and medical insurance coverage for customers.
