Key Islands :
Tahiti : The largest island and the entry point for most travelers. It has a bustling capital, Papeete, markets, museums, and the beautiful black sand beaches of Papenoo.
Bora Bora : Known for its luxury resorts, turquoise lagoon, and overwater bungalows. Perfect for honeymooners and those seeking a high-end experience.

Huahine : Known for its lush forests, ancient ruins, and traditional Polynesian culture.
Fakarava : A UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, great for diving and exploring its diverse marine life.
When to Visit :
High Season (June to August) : This period has the best weather but also the highest prices and largest crowds.
Shoulder Seasons (April to May, September to October) : Still good weather, fewer tourists, and better prices.
Low Season (November to March) : Rainy season with more humidity, but it’s less crowded and more affordable.
Getting There and Around :
Flights : Most international flights land in Faa’a International Airport in Tahiti. Air Tahiti Nui and Air France are major carriers.
Inter-Island Travel : Air Tahiti offers flights between islands. Ferries and boats are also common, especially between Tahiti, Moorea, and Bora Bora.
Accommodation :
Luxury Resorts : Bora Bora, Tahiti, and Moorea offer high-end resorts with overwater bungalows.
Mid-Range Hotels : Available on most islands, offering comfortable stays without the high price tag of luxury resorts.
Guesthouses and Pensions : For a more authentic experience, consider staying in local guesthouses, which are often more affordable.
Activities :
Water Sports : Snorkeling, diving, kayaking, and paddleboarding are popular due to the clear waters and rich marine life.
Hiking : Trails on Moorea, Tahiti, and Raiatea offer stunning views and a chance to explore the islands' natural beauty.
Cultural Tours : Learn about Polynesian culture, visit ancient marae (temples), and enjoy traditional dance performances.
Relaxation : Enjoy the beaches, spas, and wellness retreats, especially in luxury resorts.
Cuisine :
Local Dishes : Try poisson cru (raw fish salad), ma’a tinito (pork and beans), and firi firi (fried doughnuts).
Fruits : Fresh tropical fruits like pineapple, mango, and coconut are abundant.
Dining : Options range from high-end restaurants in resorts to local food trucks (roulottes) offering delicious and affordable meals.
Practical Tips :
Currency : The local currency is the French Pacific Franc (XPF).
Language : French and Tahitian are the official languages. English is widely spoken in tourist areas.
Health and Safety : Tap water is safe to drink in most areas, but bottled water is recommended on some islands. Mosquito repellent is advised to prevent mosquito-borne illnesses.
Connectivity : Wi-Fi is available in most hotels and resorts, but can be limited on remote islands.
Cultural Etiquette :
Respect for Traditions : Show respect for local customs and traditions. When visiting marae, dress modestly and follow any posted guidelines.
