OVERVIEW

This journey begins with a warm welcome in Mandalay, offering time to relax before exploring the city’s ancient treasures. You'll visit Amarapura’s iconic sites, including Mahagandayon Monastery and the U Bein teak bridge, followed by Mandalay’s most revered monuments such as Mahamuni Pagoda and Kuthodaw Pagoda. After witnessing a breathtaking sunset from Mandalay Hill, enjoy a traditional dance and music performance.

The trip continues with a scenic drive to Bagan, featuring a stop at the Minzontaung Wildlife Sanctuary and a climb to the peak of Mount Popa. In Bagan, explore its famous temples, visit a lacquerware workshop, and end the day with a sunset view over the plains. The adventure concludes in Yangon, with visits to Sule Pagoda and the dazzling Shwedagon Pagoda, ending with a stroll through the bustling Bogyoke Market before departure.

Day 1 : Mandalay (- / - / D)

Upon arrival Mandalay Airport you will be welcomed by your guide and transferred to your hotel.

The rest of the day is at leisure to relax at hotel. 

Lunch is charged to your own account and dinner is at hotel. 

Overnight in Mandalay.

Day 2 : Mandalay (B / L / D)

After breakfast we head to Amarapura, a former royal capital near Mandalay. First stop is Mahagandayon, a famous Buddhist monastery that is home to over 1,000 monks. Then we head to the ancient U Bein teak bridge. Next is a traditional hand-woven silk workshop, followed by Bagaya Monastery with its superb collection of Buddha statues. 

After lunch at a local restaurant, you will experience the best of Mandalay, including some of its most revered religious monuments such as the Mahamuni pagoda, the Shwe Inbin Monastery, the Golden Palace Monastery, a superb example of a traditional wooden building and Kuthodaw Pagoda which contains the world’s largest book made from 729 slabs of marble inscribed with Buddhist scripts. Mandalay is also a major arts and crafts centre and we visit a Kalaga tapestries craftsman’s shop before heading to Mandalay Hill to view the sublime sunset. 

In the evening, experience the performances of traditional Myanmar dance and music in a contemporary setting from 8:00- 9:00pm at The Mintha Theatre. 

Dinner is at local restaurant. 

Overnight in Mandalay.

Day 3 : Mandalay – Bagan (B / L / D)

After an early breakfast we set off on a (approximately 255 km - 4 hours) journey through varied agricultural landscapes to Bagan. En-route we visit Minzontaung Wild Life Sanctuary to observe endangered Burmese Star Tortoises. We will experience radio-tracking of these reptiles and visit a soft release centre, with expert instruction from staff.

We then continue to Mount Popa, an extinct volcano 1,518 metres above sea level, with spectacular views of the sprawling plains. This is a popular pilgrimage destination for those who worship various animist spirits known as nats. A total of 777 steps lead to the shrine atop Taungkalat Peak. 

After a scenic drive (approximately 50 km - 1.5 hours), including a short break at one of the local villages if time permits, we arrive in Bagan and check in to hotel. 

Lunch is at local restaurant and dinner is at hotel. 

Overnight in Bagan.

Day 4 : Bagan (B / L / D)

Your day will begin early with a quaint horse cart ride to witness the rise of dawn which is followed by breakfast at hotel. This enjoyable day continues with visits to the most significant temples in Bagan including Shwezigon Pagoda, Shwe Gu Gyi Pagoda and Ananda Temple with its four magnificent standing Buddha images. 

In the afternoon we learn about Myanmar’s most treasured handicrafts and visit a lacquerware craftsman’s workshop in nearby Myinkaba village. Later we head to Manuha Temple which was built in a Mon-style in 1059 and explore Nanbaya Temple, a unique sandstone monument which, according to legends, used to be the palace site of King Manuha.

We also visit the Archaeological Museum (closed Monday and public holidays) which houses countless beautiful Buddha images made of bronze, stone and lacquer. The perfect day ends with a sunset view of the temple-dotted plains. 

Lunch is at Sanon Restaurant and dinner with puppet show at a local restaurant. 

Overnight in Bagan.

Day 5 : Bagan – Yangon (B / - / -)

After breakfast we fly to YANGON. Upon arrival visit Sule Pagoda that dates back over 2,000 years. We then proceed to one of the world’s most spectacular monuments, the jewel encrusted Shwedagon Pagoda and stroll through Bogyoke (Scott’s) Market (closed on Monday and public holidays) which has hundreds of food, clothes, handicrafts and gems stores. 

Afterwards we transfer to Yangon Airport for your international departure.
