After the tour, we will transfer for lunch at a marvelous lodge with panoramic views of the Bwindi Forest. A recently proclaimed World Heritage site, Bwindi Impenetrable Forest is one of the most biologically diverse areas on earth and its unique, precious flora sustains roughly half of the world population of mountain gorillas – believed to number just 600. There’s also a substantial chimpanzee population and research shows that Bwindi is the only forest in Africa in which these two apes live together.

Once you have found the gorillas, you will be allowed to spend 1 hour observing them from a 10-meter distance. The thrill of your encounter will erase the difficulties of the potentially strenuous trek. Each encounter is different and has its own rewards, but you are likely to enjoy the close view of adults feeding, grooming and resting as the youngster’s frolic and swing from vines in a delightfully playful display. After tracking transfer back to your lodge for dinner.

The group is very much used to our presence now, allowing us to have an insight into their daily lives. The monkeys dictate how the day is going to be, and no day is ever the same in the forest.
