KILIMANJARO CLIMB -TARANGIRE & NGORONGORO SAFARI - ZANZIBAR ISLAND
OVERVIEW
The Marangu route, also known as the “Tourist Route” and “Coca-Cola" route, is the oldest, most wellestablished route on Kilimanjaro. This is the only route which offers sleeping huts in dormitory style accommodations in lieu of camping. preferred by many trekkers. Marangu is beautiful, easiest and shortest route. Ascent and descent are done on the same path. The trek begins in the south-east area of the mountain at Marangu Gate. The route takes five days minimum to complete, although six days is more practical and recommended. The sleeping huts along the route are structures with a dining hall and bunk beds, equipped with mattresses and pillows. The descent is done on the same path.
Scenically, Marangu is not a desirable route compared to all the other routes because it confines climbers to one area of the mountain, thus limiting the variety. However, Marangu has the best trail in the rainforest section of the trek. Of course, there are still great views of the Mawenzi and it’s equally spectacular for everyone at Uruhu.
Marangu is an ideal for those who are not confident in their ability to hike over steeper paths. It’s also attractive for those who do not want to sleep in a tent. Marangu’s huts offer shelter and warmth against the weather so it is a decent choice when climbing during the rainy season. Marangu is for those who want to spend less on their climb, and do not mind crowds.

After an early breakfast, pack your bags and depart with your driver to Ngorongoro Crater, an early start to the day is best in order to avoid the later influx of tourists into the Ngorongoro Crater. The park gate opens at 0600, so it is best to be there as close to this time as possible. There are a number of lions which are typically larger in size than an average lion due the large amount of game in the area. The crater floor tends to get very busy, with there often being numerous vehicles at any wildlife sighting.
The Ngorongoro Crater is a large, unbroken, un-flooded caldera, formed when a giant volcano erupted and collapsed some three million years ago. Had it not become a caldera, it is possible that the volcanic mountain would be about the same height as Kilimanjaro. The caldera is 600m deep, 16km across and 265 sq km in area. Enjoy the spectacular scenery and game viewing, in what has been described as the eighth wonder of the world. Many of Tanzania’s last remaining black rhino can be seen grazing on the open grassland of the crater floor, surrounded by some of the 25,000 large animals that occupy the crater, including lion, cheetah, wildebeest, eland, zebra and gazelle. Ballon Safari
500 USD / PersYour experience starts with a briefing by our guides, the night before the flight and signing the waiver form. Our guide will pick you from your camp / lodge early morning (4am -5am) to arrive at our launch area by approximately 6am, giving you enough time to enjoy some hot Tanzanian coffee with homemade cookies, access to a clean toilet, and Free Wi-Fi. During this time the Pilot will brief you on the safety measures, launch & landing procedure, and what to expect. We plan take off at about 6:30am subject to weather. The basket is on its side while you board and will stand up right just before taking off.
Just after you elevate from the ground, you most probably will enjoy a great African sunrise (depending on weather). During the flight you will have a birds eye uninterrupted view of the vast plains of Serengeti, and you will understand why they call it endless plains. The pilot will try to spot wildlife for you and lower the balloon for better viewing. He may also rise the balloon for better speed / direction and also for some amazing views. The flight usually lasts 1 hour +/- 15mins depending on the weather. You can still enjoy hot coffee during the flight.
Landing really depends on the landscape of the area and the wind speeds. The basket could have few bumps before halting, and / or tip over, but most of the time it is a smooth and soft as the flight it self. Once you disembark, you will enjoy a traditional balloon celebration with a little history on how the tradition came to be.
After this you will be driven to our carefully selected bush breakfast area, warmly welcomed by our team to enjoy a scrumptious plated breakfast. Be sure to give us any dietary requirements before hand so we can cater for you.
After your breakfast, you will be issued with your certificates and then returned to the Visitors Centre or nearest airstrip to meet up with your guide to continue with your safari.
