Day 1 : Lukimbi Safari Lodge, Southern Kruger (B / L / D)

Transfer from Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport to Lukimbi Safari Lodge

On arrival you will be met and transferred to your safari lodge located on one of only 7 private concession within Kruger National Park.

Check-in and orientation of the lodge, in the later part of the afternoon you will join your first afternoon game drive.

Southern Kruger :

The southern area of South Africa’s most famous game reserve, the Kruger National Pak, is separated from lush farmland by the Crocodile River, a popular area to spot crocodiles, playful hippos and thirsty wildlife. The game viewing area is known as the ‘Southern Circle’ and is renowned for its rhinos and lions, with different prides boasting an array of different hunting techniques and behaviours to observe. Near the Hippo Pool, visitors can view ancient San rock paintings. The Southern Kruger offers incredible game-viewing opportunities and magnificent landscapes covered in African bushveld and savannah.

Safari / Game Drives :

Game drives go out in the early morning and late afternoons in open safari vehicles.  Our guides love to share their extensive knowledge, and work closely with our Shangaan trackers to get the best sightings. There is  great communication between the two and our trackers are encouraged to share their knowledge of local uses of herbs and trees, animals and birds.

We can follow the Big 5 off road in careful, controlled circumstances, an experience guests love. Guests are able to get really close to the animals and experience truly fantastic photographic opportunities. Some of the highlights of these drives is the coffee stop in the morning and sundowner time in the evening, when guests can stretch their legs, admire their surroundings and recall exciting moments from the safari.

Overnight : Lukimbi Safari Lodge
Meals : Full Board Plus - Dinner, Bed, Breakfast, Lunch and Activities

Day 2 : Lukimbi Safari Lodge, Southern Kruger (B / L / D)

Two Full days on Safari in Kruger National Park

No two 4×4 safaris are ever the same, nor are they possible to predict. It’s about being at the right place at the right time, with the right people to show you where to look. Safaris go out in the morning (just before sunrise to return in time for breakfast) and in the late afternoon (departing before sunset to return in time for dinner), and are an incomparable way to properly connect with Africa.

A Lukimbi safari is a unique take on a traditional Kruger National Park safari in that vehicles are permitted to traverse off-road under strictly controlled conditions. This, coupled with the fact that no more than 32 people enjoy 15 000 hectares of pristine protected wilderness, makes for an exclusive and highly personalised close contact safari experience.

The importance of a good guide cannot be overstated, and Lukimbi’s guides are all qualified and experienced experts. They are teamed with local trackers who were born in this area. Together they make a formidable team, whose passion and knowledge combine to deliver a standalone safari experience. Their enthusiasm is contagious, and you’ll quickly get drawn in to their excitement over predators, the medicinal uses of plants, astronomy, spoor tracking, photography and birds – to name just a few. They will hold you riveted as they jump off a vehicle to point out paw prints in the sand, or to identify a luminous chameleon in a tree.

Guided River and Bush Walks are also available to those who want their feet on the ground for the fresh perspective on an interactive walking safari.

Sunrise and sunset are very special on safari, in that they give the unique opportunity to pause, breathe and simply take in the beauty of the surroundings. Sip on an Amarula coffee or G&T as you witness the sun’s rise and fall in a glorious blaze of colours -no two are ever the same, and the impact is as powerful whether its your first or your hundredth time.

Bush Walks :

Lukimbi's walks offer the opportunity to look at and learn about the smaller things and just to appreciate the special smell of the African bush, listening to the calls of the many species of birds.  Walks are generally taken after breakfast and guests are always accompanied by an armed ranger. It is true wilderness as the 15 000 ha area is utilised by Lukimbi Safari Lodge's guests alone.

River Walks :

After breakfast, you drive with your guide just 10 to15 minutes to the Crocodile River (located within the Kruger National Park, where we are the only Lodge to be granted access). This makes for a very personal and exclusive experience.

The Crocodile River is magnificent. The landscape dips into bold granite rocks flanking the water, and the sounds you will hear are as impressive as the sight. A cacophony of birds singing, tweeting and calling, coupled with running water and reeds blowing in the wind, with hippos honking loudly in the foreground all make for a heady combination. You will be entertained by crocodiles sunning themselves  on the riverbank and the general game that comes to the water’s edge to drink.
It’s a beautiful experience sitting in silence, breathing fresh air and forging a very personal connection with the wild – and yourself….  This walk is more about appreciating the environment of the Crocodile River, and is less about physical exertion.

Kids Programme :
For children under 12, babysitting is available from 07h00

The Safari Play room is available from 08h00 - 13h00 and again during the evening game drives (15h15 - 19h30)
A supervisor is present at all times. Safari beds and cots are available on request.

Activities include:
* Game drives
* Bush walks
* Plaster casting tracks
* Arts and Crafts
* Treasure hunts
* Interactive sessions with rangers
* Special boma dinners
* Kids' dinners and picnics.

The older ones will enjoy the water flowing across the rocks, where it finally drops into a waterfall.  There they can enjoy the adventure of sitting behind the cascading water. If they are lucky, they will be able to watch elephants drinking from the pools in the river bed nearby.

This morning you will return to KMIA for your flight to Mozambique, your transfer is partly through Kruger, so your last opportunity to spot some of the wildlife you might have missed!

Enjoy a unique Mozambican experience with an endless stretch of sandy beach, luxury accommodation and attentive staff to ensure your stay is an unforgettable one.

Inhambane :

The Imhambane Province is known for its wide, almost land-locked bay and its beautiful but crumbling Portuguese architecture. Points of interest include the vibrant local market, intriguing heritage museums, charming mosques and the 200-year-old Cathedral of our Lady of Concepti. Located within close proximity are the popular beach destinations of Barra, Tofo and Guinjata Bay, which offer excellent snorkelling, diving, fishing and watersports; and the tiny, remote Ilha dos porcos which is home to traditional villages and a few of the remaining namesake wild pigs. Tofo is also an ideal destination for animal lovers, as it is home to manta rays and whale sharks, while Barra features an incredible bird estuary. It is possible to take traditional dhow boats across the bay, allowing visitors to experience it in the same way it was hundreds of years ago.
