OVERVIEW

This journey through Myanmar begins in Yangon, where you'll explore its ancient pagodas, including the iconic Shwedagon Pagoda, and visit vibrant markets. Next, you'll fly to Mandalay to experience its cultural and spiritual landmarks, such as the Mahamuni Pagoda and Mandalay Hill, offering stunning sunset views. In Amarapura, witness the historic U Bein Bridge and traditional silk weaving before heading to the ancient city of Bagan. Bagan reveals its stunning temples and the rich artistry of Myanmar’s lacquerware.

The tour continues with a scenic drive to Nyaung Shwe, stopping at Mount Popa, and later reaching the Inle Lake region. You'll explore the lake by boat, discovering floating gardens and the unique lifestyle of the one-leg rowers, as well as local markets and villages. The journey concludes with a visit to the hidden Indein Pagoda complex, an exploration of traditional farming villages, and an opportunity to interact with the local community.

Day 1 : Yangon

Upon arrival, your guide will meet you and transfer to your hotel. Your afternoon tour through the former capital starts with a visit to the 2,000 year-old Sule Pagoda. 

We then head to the magnificent 66 metres-long reclining Buddha at ChaukHtat Gyi, followed by a photo stop at the ornate Karaweik Hall on Kandawgyi Royal Lake. We then stroll through Bogyoke (Scott’s) Market (closed on Monday and public holidays) which has abundant food, clothes, handicrafts and gems stores.We conclude our tour with an extended visit at Shwedagon Pagoda. 

Lunch and dinner are charged to your own account.

Overnight stay in Yangon. 

Day 2 :  Yangon – Mandalay (B / L / D)

After breakfast we fly to Mandalay and upon arrival, we visit one of the most revered religiousmonuments in Myanmar, the Mahamuni Pagoda and then transfer to hotel for check in. 

In the afternoon we experience the sights and sounds of Mandalay including the Mandalay Royal Palace, Shweinbin Monastery the Golden Palace Monastery and Kuthodaw Pagoda which contains the world’s largest book made from 729 slabs of marble inscribed with Buddhist teachings before proceeding to Mandalay Hill to watch the stunning sunset.

Lunch will be served at local restaurant.  

Dinner is at hotel.

Overnight stay in Mandalay.

Day 3 : Mandalay – Bagan (B / L / D)

After breakfast we head to Amarapura, a former royal capital near Mandalay. First stop is Mahagandayon, a famous Buddhist monastery that is home to over 1,000 monks. Then we head to the ancient U Bein teak bridge. Next is a traditional hand-woven silk workshop, followed by Bagaya Monastery with its superb collection of Buddha statues. 
After lunch, proceed to Bagan by car (around 4 hrs). Transfer to your hotel.

Dinner is at hotel.

Day 4 : Bagan (B / L / D) 

After breakfast head to a colourful local market and continue the day’s exploration with visits to the most significant sites in this historical wonderland including Shwezigon Pagoda, built by King Anawrahta in the early 11th century; Ku Byauk Gyi, a temple with superb murals of Buddhist Jataka scenes and Shwe Gu Gyi Temple followed by Ananda Temple with its four magnificent standing Buddha statues. 

After lunch which includes at a local restaurant, we learn about Myanmar’s most treasured handicrafts with a visit to a lacquerware workshop. Later, we continue to Manuha Temple, an imposing structure built in the Mon style in 1059 and then explore Nanbaya Temple, a unique sandstone monument which used to be palace of famed Mon ruler King Manuha. Next, is Myingaba Gu Byauk Gyi Temple. We also include a visit to the Archaeological Museum (closed on Mondays and public holidays) which has a myriad of beautiful Buddha images made of bronze, stone and lacquer. 

Dinner is at local restaurant.

Overnight in Bagan.

Day 5 : Bagan – Popa - Kalaw – Nyaung Shwe (B / L / D)

After an early breakfast, a long drive (7 hours) will take us to Nyaung Shwe. En-route we visit Mount Popa, an extinct volcano 1,518 metres above sea level which has spectacular views of the sprawling plains. This is a popular pilgrimage destination for devotees who worship various animist spirits known as nats. A total of 777 steps leads up to the shrine placed atop the steep Popa peak.    
 
After a stop for a local lunch, our journey includes narrow, winding and bumpy roads through the splendour of the Shan hills. We reach Kalaw, a delightful hill station on the rim of the Shan Plateau. This destination is a market centre for ethnic minorities from surrounding regions and wonderful handicrafts can be purchased at the colourful markets. 

Upon arrival to Nyaung Shwe and transfer for hotel check in.

Lunch is at local restaurant and dinner is at hotel. 

Overnight stay in Inle Lake Region.

Day 6 : Inle Lake (B / L / D)

After breakfast we begin our full-day exploration by boat of Inle Lake. We will witness the famous one-leg rowers, floating gardens and an insight into village life, plus stupendous views of the magnificent local scenery. Highlights include visits to Phaungdaw Oo Pagoda, the weaving village of Inpawkhon and a traditional local market (on market days only). 

Lunch is at a local restaurant and dinner is at hotel.
Overnight stay on the shore of the lake.

Day 7 : Indein (B / L / D)

After breakfast we visit a thriving local market in the Inle Lake region and then we board a boat to the western shore of Inle Lake where you will find the beginning of a stair path to the well-hidden Indein Pagoda complex. 

On the way, you will visit YWAMA village. This is one of the most amazing historical sights on the shoreline and consists of hundreds of small stupas overgrown with moss and greenery.  

We continue on foot to a nearby village where several farms produce crops according to traditional methods. 

We enjoy a walk along one of the many creeks, passing through rice fields to the village of Sae Ma. Then we head to the weaving village of Tha Le. 

In the afternoon we travel to one of the monasteries to observe monastic rituals and also interact with local people. 

Lunch is at a local restaurant and dinner is at hotel.

Overnight in Inle Lake region.

Day 8 : Inle Lake – Yangon (B / - / -)

After breakfast we fly to YANGON. Upon arrival, your car and guide are at your disposal until for your international departure flight.
