OVERVIEW

Memorable moments until leaving Laos will be literally captured to bring back home. Suited for both beginners to more experienced photographers, a kaleidoscope of opportunities will hit your camera lens during this photography-themed exploration.

Together with a professional photographer and guide, all aspects of local life and natural splendour will reach your lens and will be shown from different angles. Created around Luang Prabang, even non-shutterbugs will thoroughly enjoy this 5-days' itinerary.

DAY 1 : ARRIVAL - LUANG PRABANG

We kick start this immersive five-day photography tour in charming UNESCO-crowned Luang Prabang.

Upon arrival in the former royal capital, we check-in to the hotel, with the rest of the day free to explore our surroundings before dinner.

Luang Prabang is a stunning town that has kept true to tradition while embracing the modern world. This compact destination is packed full of ornate temples, artisan workshops and historic buildings. It is also surrounded by pristine natural beauty that takes in jungle, sweeping farmland, cascading waterfalls and ancient caves waiting to be explored.

We recommend climbing the town’s highest hill, Mount Phousi, in time for sunset. The 300 steps are rewarded with a splendid vista of the town and the countryside sprawling below.  Settle into life in Laos’ beating spiritual heart on this excellent adventure.

DAY 2 : LUANG PRABANG – KUANG SI WATERFALLS – BAN PHANOM COTTON VILLAGE – BAN CHAN POTTERY VILLAGE – PETANQUE (B / L / D)

Capture Laos’ breath-taking natural beauty on this absorbing tour. At 7.30 am, we transfer by minivan on a 45-minute drive to Kuang Si Waterfalls. A short jungle jaunt leads us to these striking three-tiered falls, which cascade into clear pools of water that are perfect for a refreshing dip. Wildlife lovers will be in their element as we head to a bear sanctuary founded by the Free the Bears Foundation. This facility has rescued hundreds of bears from the clutches of illegal practices.

After a tasty lunch at Carpe Diem restaurant, we return to town, stopping at Ban Phanom to watch traditional cotton weaving processes. In Luang Prabang, we board a ferry across the Mekong River to Ban Chan, a village that has been producing pottery by hand for over 400 years. At 5.50 pm, we work up an appetite challenging locals to a game of petanque, ahead of dinner at a local Restaurant. Today’s immersive itinerary highlights the magic of this amazing country.

Discover Luang Prabang’s unique charm at your own pace with a free day. After breakfast, we have the day at our leisure to hit the streets with our cameras to capture the town’s colonial and religious heritage. We recommend heading to Wat Xieng Thong. Also known as the Golden City Temple, this 16th century complex is adorned in ornate coloured glass and it is the town’s most beautiful temple and a site where past kings were crowned. Wat Mai is one of Luang Prabang’s most richly-decorated temples, coated in black and red lacquer detail and gold leaf.

Round out the day with another serene sunset from Mount Phousi, before taking a stroll through the lively night market to barter for souvenirs. Spend the day discovering Luang Prabang at your leisure.
