OVERVIEW

As a capital, Vientiane may not tick off all the boxes for being a beehive of busy-ness with an expansive drive to stay abreast with the demands of the modern world. And for good reasons. Unique in many ways, so is its approach to food and drinks. T

ailored to perfection be it during an evening of fun-filled bar hopping to try out various local delicacies by tuk-tuk at day time a 4 day marriage of food, drinks, culture and more food epitomises that serious culinary travellers should not underestimate Vientiane. Lunch, dinner and in-between Laotian coffee breaks will be intertwined with experiencing the slow-life attractiveness of the capital. To round it all off, a cooking class inside the gardens of the Lao Textile museum will surely be the proverbial cherry on the cake.

Under the guidance of a local chef, we discover classic ingredients and preparation methods as we create a number of delicious dishes. We can then feast on the fruits of our labour on the terrace of a 150-year-old home.

After eating, we visit the on-site museum and browse the displays of traditional clothes and artefacts and meet some weavers. Our next stop is Buddha Park to view the intriguing collection of Buddhist and Hindu sculptures. Back in the city, we take a stroll along the banks of the Mekong before dinner at Kualao restaurant at 7 pm.

Save space for lunch as we visit Vientiane’s most popular khao piak shop to try fragrant broth and handmade noodles.

Next, we stop at a thum mak houng stall and learn how to make green papaya salad before satisfying our sweet tooth at dessert vendors.
